Students rally against Trump administration, fear protest crackdowns - The Brown Daily Herald

Today, SciLight and From the Science Classroom are teaming up and distributing a survey. The survey seeks information regarding students' perceptions of the Trump administration's actions, primarily funding and workforce cuts, on the functions of their colleges and universities and students' career prospects and goals.

Please share this survey widely with any students or student networks. The link to the survey is below:

The last 7 weeks have been a whirlwind for many people on many issues. One area of particular concern is the potential long-term consequences of these actions for students currently enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs across the United States. Reports of graduate programs reducing their number of enrolled students, summer research programs being canceled, research funding being cut, and federal staff being let go have raised the alarm. Preparing and educating the next generation is critical for ensuring we have a workforce capable of facing the challenges of tomorrow.

We, as a country, are already facing a labor shortage. These policy changes and actions could decrease opportunities for students committed to advancing fields vital for innovation, research, and development. We are deeply concerned about the ripple effects these changes will have on students' careers and the country as a whole.

Therefore, we are launching this survey to collect information about the impact of the Trump administration’s policies and actions on current students. By gathering direct feedback from students, we aim to create a clearer picture of how the administration’s policies and actions are influencing academic experiences, access to resources, and consideration of future career opportunities.

We will work to compile the information and share it as data is collected, ensuring that the voices of students are heard. Your participation is crucial in highlighting students’ challenges and advocating for changes that better support their education and future.

Please share this survey with your network. We are accepting responses from all students currently enrolled in a college or university within the US, and we will collect survey responses for one month.
